November 1st (All Saints Day) and 2nd (All Souls Day) are two of the most important days in the Spanish colonized countries such as Philippines. In the profane way, these days known as Halloween. Most of the youth in the other countries might ask you “what are you gonna be for Halloween?”. But here in the Philippines, they ask “what time should we meet at the cemetery?”. Most Filipino simply go to the cemetery visiting their relatives or families who have passed away and cleaning their tombs. They will stay at the cemetery for a few hours, or maybe even the whole day/night. The mood is usually happy and light, and it’s more a positive idea of remembering relatives who have passed away. This celebration shows how family oriented the Filipino culture.
